Eriskay is old Norse for Eric's Island, and lies south of South Uist, connected by a causeway opened in 2001. Ferries from Eriskay sail to Barra, on the Isle of Barra which is located further south in the Hebrides. You can book ferries to and from Eriskay with AFerry.
See below for detailed Eriskay timetable information and the best prices our customers have found recently.
Eriskay port facilities
There is a waiting room at the ferry terminal which can seat 15 people. Accessible toilet facilities are also available. The nearest shops are in Eriskay village which is just a mile from the port.
Getting to Eriskay
Eriskay is small and easily navigated, you can reach one end of the island to the other in just a few minutes. From the larger land mass of South Uist, the B888 road leads to Eriskay.
The W17 bus service stops at the ferry terminal, with the bus stop at the top of the slipway. Services are infrequent so do check timetables before planning your itinerary.
Getting around Eriskay
On arrival at Eriskay, you will be able to see that it is possible to hire out a car or bicycles and Taxis, some of which will give you a tour of the island.
Eriskay is a stunning place. Catch it on a sunny day with big skies, blue seas and white beaches and you discover what the word "idyllic" really means. It is somewhere you will want to come back to, and while nearby Barra comes very close, Eriskay is the highlight of any tour of the Western Isles.
